Herein lies some thoughts and beliefs that form the basis of our lab culture. This document is ever-evolving, and is updated semi-regularly.
- Be motivated by the science.
- Be engaged.
- Give others honest feedback but be kind when doing it.
- Be professional and respectful.
- Assume good faith.
- It’s ok to make mistakes as long as you are honest about them when you realize you’ve made them.
- Everyone is a scientist.
- Be involved in your project at all levels.
- Ask for help when needed and give help when asked (within reason!).
- Do what you will with your own personal space but leave shared spaces cleaner than you found them.
- Keep a lab notebook.
- Think critically about experimental results—both yours and others.
- If you are having an issue with another lab member (scientific or social) bring it up with Lamia early, before the issue turns into a problem.
- Remember that science can be hard. But that doesn’t preclude you from having fun while doing it**!**
